A classic milk crate remains popular with kayak anglers for a good reason. It is simple, open, easy to reach, and generally fits behind the seat.

PaddleOn keeps those advantages while adding a structure designed specifically for configuration.

Rod Storage That Can Change With the Setup

Rod storage is one of the first upgrades many anglers add to a kayak crate. It is also one of the easiest places to make a permanent decision that later limits the layout.

Traditional kayak rigs often use rod-holder assemblies that are bolted or screwed directly to the crate. That approach is familiar, dependable, and still preferred by many anglers. A permanent holder can make sense when the kayak layout is already established and unlikely to change.

PaddleOn adds another option.

The UbeCube™ Fishing Pole Holder installs on the crate using an included D-Ring Connector. It can be attached firmly for the trip, then removed or repositioned without drilling through the crate or permanently assigning the holder to one side.

That flexibility matters when:

• A rod holder needs to move away from another accessory
• A different kayak requires a different orientation
• The crate is removed for transport
• The same holder is used for garage storage between trips
• The angler wants to test a configuration before committing to it

The system does not suggest that every permanent mounting method is wrong. Some anglers already have a layout they trust and prefer to keep permanently mounted holders in place.

PaddleOn simply avoids making that the only choice.

An angler can keep an existing permanent holder, use repositionable UbeCube attachments, or combine both approaches. The crate remains a flexible platform rather than a one-layout product.

A BaseBox Above, Useful Storage Below

One of PaddleOn’s biggest advantages is the way it uses the crate’s vertical space.

The system includes a BaseBox™ tackle unit that provides divided, protected storage without consuming the entire crate. BaseBox is designed to organize smaller items such as:

• Lures
• Fishing line
• Terminal tackle
• Hooks
• Small tools
• Soft plastics
• Leaders and swivels
• Frequently used accessories

The organizer sits in the upper portion of the crate, keeping commonly used tackle within reach. Beneath it, the PaddleOn still provides room for larger equipment.

That lower compartment is sized to work especially well with standard 3600-size tackle trays, one of the most common tackle-box formats used by kayak and recreational anglers. Existing 3600 trays can remain part of the setup instead of being replaced simply to fit a proprietary storage format.

The lower area can also carry a soft bag, spare clothing, food, safety equipment, or other trip-specific gear.

This creates two useful storage zones inside one crate:

• Fast-access divided tackle in the BaseBox above
• Larger trays and bulk gear in the open space below

PaddleOn does not require anglers to abandon the tackle storage they already use. It gives those familiar components a more organized place within a larger modular system.

Secure the Crate Your Way

A kayak crate needs to stay firmly in place while paddling, transporting gear, or reaching behind the seat. PaddleOn includes multiple ways to secure the crate so anglers can choose the setup that fits their kayak.

The kit includes two Plier Holders that serve double duty as exterior tool storage and crate tie-down points.

Installed horizontally, the Plier Holders can support standard 1-inch tie-down straps routed across or around the crate. Installed vertically, the opening near the end of each holder can provide a connection point for the kayak’s existing bungee hooks while still keeping pliers or other narrow tools organized on the outside of the crate.

This gives PaddleOn a practical mounting method straight out of the box without requiring a separate mounting plate.

Anglers who want additional routing points can add CrateHooks around the crate. One flexible configuration uses three CrateHooks on each of two opposing sides, allowing the kayak’s native bungee to weave through the hooks in a triangle-style pattern. Because the hooks use UbeCube’s removable quarter-turn attachment system, they can be repositioned or removed when the crate is transferred to another setup.

For anglers who want the crate to remain fixed more permanently, Screw Clips can be used to anchor the crate itself to a suitable mounting surface. This method requires an appropriate installation surface and fasteners, but it offers another option for kayaks or platforms where a fixed crate position is preferred.

Screw Clips secure the crate. They do not mount the Fishing Pole Holders, Plier Holders, or other quarter-turn attachments. Those accessories connect directly to compatible attachment points on the UbeCube crate.

PaddleOn therefore supports several approaches:

• Included Plier Holders used with straps or bungee hooks
• Additional CrateHooks used to route the kayak’s native bungee
• Screw Clips used for a more permanent crate installation

The angler can use the method that works best for the kayak without being locked into one mounting system.

Lift-Out Tackle Access From the Seat

The most useful tackle storage is not simply organized. It is organized in a way that can still be reached from the kayak.

The BaseBox sits near the top of the PaddleOn, where its handles remain accessible from the seat. Instead of digging through the entire crate or unloading the larger gear stored underneath, the angler can lift out the organized tackle unit, find what is needed, and return it to the crate.

That separation becomes especially useful when the lower compartment contains several 3600-size tackle trays, a dry bag, food, or backup equipment. The smaller items used most often stay grouped together rather than disappearing beneath the rest of the load.

The crate opening also provides a practical workspace for changing tackle while seated. Once the BaseBox is removed, the lower compartment remains open and visible without requiring the entire PaddleOn to be taken apart.

This is the advantage of treating the storage as layers rather than as one large open bin:

• Frequently used tackle stays near the top
• Larger gear remains organized below
• The BaseBox can be removed independently
• The complete crate stays secured in the kayak

The result is faster access without sacrificing the storage capacity underneath.

Exterior Storage That Moves With the Trip

The outside of PaddleOn can be just as useful as the inside.

UbeCube™ attachment points turn the crate walls into configurable storage space, keeping equipment visible and within reach instead of burying everything in the main compartment.

The exterior can be configured with products such as:

• Fishing Pole Holders for upright rod storage
• Plier Holders for pliers, line cutters, screwdrivers, or other small tools
• CrateHooks for cords, small bags, accessories, or bungee-routing points
• Cup Holders for bottles, tumblers, and similarly shaped gear

The placement is not predetermined. A Fishing Pole Holder can be mounted where it works best for that kayak. Plier Holders can be kept near the seat. CrateHooks can support a tie-down arrangement during one trip and hold a small bag during the next.

Most importantly, those attachments do not become permanently tied to PaddleOn.

After the kayak is unloaded, the same Fishing Pole Holder can move to an UbeCube™ garage setup for rod storage. The same CrateHook can move to a workshop crate. A Cup Holder can shift from the kayak to a tailgate setup, workbench, or campsite.

That is one of PaddleOn’s most important differences from a collection of kayak-specific accessories.

The holder, hook, or storage component does not belong exclusively to one boat. It belongs to the wider UbeCube™ system.

Instead of purchasing a separate version of the same accessory for every environment, the system allows components to move wherever they are useful. The kayak setup can grow into garage storage, transport organization, shoreline storage, or a larger fishing station without leaving the original accessories behind.
